Pacific Grey Cod
Pacific Grey Cod is a common bycatch while salmon fishing.
Chinook salmon fishing is our main targeted catch. Available year round with peak season beginning May 1 to October 1. Chinook in the Comox Valley can range from 10 lbs to over 40 lbs.
It is very common to see wildlife as you are on your fishing charter. If you are visiting the Comox Valley and are torn on either to go fishing or on a wildlife tour you can do both while fishing. During your fishing tour we are fishing around the bait fish which is also food for the wildlife.
Yellow eye, snappers, rock fish
These species are all categorized as rockfish. Available May 1 - Oct 1 full day charters have the chance to target rockfish. Rockfish are also a common bycatch while fishing for salmon.
Coho salmon fishing is available June to October. This species packs a fun hard fight, is known for its acrobatics, and averages 4-10 lbs.
Porpoises and Dolphins
Not a target species in the gulf but from April-Sept you may have the chance of hooking one by trolling or bottom fishing.
Pink, Sockeye, Chum salmon
Available August - October these salmon are mirgating fish and can be commonly caught while targetting Chinook and Coho salmon.
Seals and Sealions
Ling cod fishing is available May 1 - Oct 1. This species averages 8-25 lbs. A target species when targeting bottom fish in the Comox Valley. Full day charters have the chance to target Ling cod. Lings are also a common bycatch while fishing for salmon.
The Dungeness Crab can be caught close to the harbor and traps can be set and checked on arrival. We offer crabbing on 6 and 8 hour charters during the winter and early spring season.
